Where it all started

I’m Luke, the founder of AirHart. If you’ve found your way to this website, perhaps you have seen some of my aerial videography or handheld camera work, or perhaps you are looking to film your next project? Either way, thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

As this is my first blog post, I wanted to take a step back and share the story of how AirHart came to be, and why I am so passionate about what I do.

My journey into the world of visual media didn’t actually start behind a camera lens…it started with a remote control. Twenty years ago, my dad introduced me to radio controlled aeroplanes and bought me my very first one when I was around 14 years old. What started as a hobby we shared quickly turned into a lifelong obsession with flight and video capture. I began flying at every single opportunity I could find.

A real turning point for me was the introduction of FPV (First Person View) flight and drone racing. For the first time I had a camera mounted in the pilots position, I could put on a pair of goggles and be in that seat myself! Putting on those goggles and flying at high speeds from the perspective of the aircraft completely revolutionised my piloting skills. It demanded precision, spatial awareness, and split-second decision-making.

I found myself consumed in the world of FPV drone flying. I was now strapping the latest GoPro to my home built drones and filming all my flights, weaving through forests, exploring abandoned factories, skimming waves at the beach and chasing RC aircraft.

One of my first home built FPV drones, the TSX200.

Eventually, it became a natural progression to combine my love for flying with visual storytelling. I brought those decades of piloting expertise into commercial drone operations, capturing stunning aerial videos and photos. But my passion for videography didn't stop in the sky. It naturally led me to pick up handheld cameras, too. Today, my gear ranges from high-speed drones for vehicle chases to 8K 360-degree cameras, 4K slo-mo setups, and high-end mirrorless cameras on 3-axis stabilising gimbals.

Capturing the footage is only half the magic. Over the years, I’ve also honed my skills in the editing room. From meticulous colour grading to piecing together the final cut, I love taking a project from a raw concept to a polished final product that exceeds your expectations.

Going forward, I’ll be using this space to share behind the scenes looks at my work, showcase deep dives into my recent projects, and offer tips on how professional videography can elevate your brand.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read my story. If you’re interested in working together on your next project, feel free to explore my portfolio or head over to the contact page to get in touch.

Let's create something brilliant together!
